The Eastern Algarve is a region roughly between Faro and Spain. The hills begin approximately above the line between Sao Bras de Alportel and Sante Estevão.
From that line it is 12 km as the crow flies to the Atlantic Ocean.
From Faro to the border of Spain is approximately 50 km.
